Food and in particular cakes played a massive part in our renovation… With home made cake served daily to the builders! I found it was a really good way of keeping them on side and incentivised for the afternoon!
The kitchen was one of the areas we spent a lot of time planning, I knew that I wanted a half painted and half wood kitchen. The centre island has oak doors (although I would have preferred dark wood but, we had an offer that was too good to miss on the island and granite so we went with the oak) and the units around the walls are in a lovely sage green. One thing that I would not compromise on was two ovens, one is a Pyron oven that self-cleans itself and the other is a baking oven, they are both electric fan assisted and they are made by AEG.
I love baking, there is nothing nicer that making a cake (and licking the bowl), I find it very therapeutic. The majority of my recipes are done from memory, but occasionally I will follow a recipe.
This page is where I share some of my favourite recipes, including my absolute favourite Pavlova (which I am told by an Australian is the best he has ever eaten)!
Last year I went to a food photography workshop in Cornwall with my friend Roberta who was over from Canada. The course was arranged by Danielle Acken who is a Canadian.
